In this eight week series on practical herbalism & nutrition you’ll learn ways to use herbs & food to fundamentally improve your health, and prevent and address common men’s health challenges like:  weight gain, erectile dysfunction, depression, stress, allergies, high cholesterol/triglycerides, heart disease, diabetes & hypoglycemia, arthritis & chronic pain.

INSTRUCTOR: Max Floyd has spent 8 years passionately studying health, nutrition and herbalism from Ayurvedic, Traditional Chinese, Traditional Western/European, Traditional American, & Western scientific perspectives. As a teenager he suffered with many health challenges and (unable to find any help using mainstream approaches) he finally learned how to overcome them using natural methods. He now shares his perspective as someone who has restored his health and vitality using practical herbalism and nutrition.

Week 1 (1/11) IMPROVING DIGESTIVE HEALTH:  Addressing Weight Loss, Heart Burn/Indigestion, Irritable Bowel, Ulcers, Diabetes, etc.
* How to use Herbs and Nutrition to cleanse and regenerate in ways that won’t interfere with your life; The critical role cleansing plays in maintaining the health of your hormones, digestion, immunity and more; eliminating/reducing sugar, wheat, dairy, alcohol & replacing them with mineral-rich, fresh veggies & fruit, healthy saturated fats, & healthy protein/amino acids
* Herbs & enzymes to strengthen digestion
* Probiotics & restoring your healthy gut ecology
* In-Class Activity: Simple, effective cleansing activities you can do every day, and how to create inexpensive herbal cleansing tonics at home (will make ginger turmeric tea in class)

Week 2 (1/18) IMPROVING MOOD, ANXIETY, DEPRESSION, & ADDICTIONS & STRESS:  Nutritional & Herbal Strategies for Addressing Depression, Anxiety, Addictions, Insomnia, & other mood issues.
* Herbs to get you off the roller coaster of hyperactive stress response & exhaustion
* Mood, Immunity & Adaptation: How the change of seasons, nutrition, immune system and lifestyle factors impact our moods
* Adaptogenic Herbs to strengthen immune system, calm the central nervous system, &
* Addressing addictions to sugar, alcohol, drugs, nicotene, caffeine, sex, & work/stress (adrenaline addiction)

Week 3 (1/25) NUTRITIONAL STRATEGIES FOR IMPROVING SEXUALITY & HORMONES:  Key Foods that Aggravate or Improve Erectile Dysfunction, Low Testosterone, Fatigue, Lack of Vitality/Passion, Etc.
* History of Genetic Manipulation of Foods (like beer, corn, soy, wheat, potatoes) to increase estrogenic qualities (especially sugar content); how to avoid foods that are Estrogen Bombs
* Role of Toxins in canned food, food-containing plastics, & other foods on Testosterone, Estrogen, & Progesterone levels
* Role of Cortisol & long-term stress on testosterone
* Advanced Nutritional approaches for rebuilding and balancing hormones
* In-Class Activity:

Week 4 (2/1) HERBAL STRATEGIES FOR IMPROVING SEXUALITY & HORMONES:  Addressing
* The Ancient Taoist principle of the Three Treasures (Jing, Shen, & Qi), and how it can be applied for increased strength, happiness and virility

* Hormones and Sexuality: an Eastern Herbal perspective
* List of key traditional Chinese, Ayurvedic, & Western Herbs for improving Testosterone levels, detoxing harmful types of Estrogen, & reducing Cortisol
* In-Class Activity: Learn hands-on how to prepare and use herbs (such as Reishi, Brahmi, Mucuna, Ashwagandha, Oat Straw, Raw Cacao) and nutrition to better handle stress in your life

Week 5 (2/8) IMPROVING IMMUNITY: Addressing Winter/Spring Colds, Flus, Allergies, Asthma, etc.
* Herbs to fight infections
* Herbs to strengthen & balance the immune system
* Building Deep, Adaptive Immunity with herbs and nutrition
* In-Class Activity: Learn how to make powerful herbal infusions and decoctions that restore and build deep immunity (Rose Hips/Vitamin C, Astragalus, Cat’s Claw, Pau D’Arco, Chaga, and Nettles)

Week 6 (2/15) IMPROVING HEART HEALTH:  Addressing heart disease, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, loneliness/isolation, lack of joy & connection:  
* Herbs for reducing inflammation, cholesterol and triglycerides
* Herbs for strengthening the heart energetically
* Herbs for calming the heart & central nervous system
* In-Class Activity:  Learn to make calming teas from traditional heart supportive herbs

Week 7 (2/22) IMPROVING BLOOD SUGAR, HYPOGLYCEMIA & DIABETES:  Addressing mood swings, lack of energy, and blood sugar issues holistically
* Review the importance of eliminating processed sugars & artificial sweeteners, increasing healthy fat and proteins in the diet, and mineral rich green foods
* Individualized herbal preparations for class attendants
- Extra time will be given for answering personal health and herbalism questions!
- In-Class Acitvity: Work with herbs and foods that help sustain energy levels and balance blood sugar

Week 8 (2/29) OVERVIEW OF PRACTICAL MEN’S HERBALISM & NUTRITION:  We’ll review some of the best things to eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner, & snacks, as well as the most important herbs to take every day & how to prepare them & when to take them. Extended time for answering questions and sharing what we’ve learned.
